This is a great place for families who are interested in science as there are numerous hands-on exhibits and programs available. The New York Hall of Science has, over the years, pioneered many interactive and educational programs that keep children fascinated and engaged.
- A different experience is offered by the Queens Museum of Art, which has hosted many world renowned exhibits. It hosts a range of events, including music concerts, festivals and lectures.
- Lastly, there are several art galleries, most notably in DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), near the Brooklyn Bridge. You definitely must see these places
Places to visit in Queens
Queens Botanical Gardens
This park has an award winning garden. It is the largest botanical garden in New York City, reaching over four and a half acres in size. The expansive garden features more than 8,000 different species of plants and trees, representing all parts of the world. The gardens were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted who designed Central Park in Manhattan as well as Prospect Park and Brooklyn’s Vanderbilt Playground . It is located at 21-25 Ashe Avenue, Flushing Meadows Park.
Queens Zoo
The Queens Zoo is located at 74-02 73rd Avenue in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It is a major attraction for locals and visitors alike, and has the largest collection of animals in the New York City area. It gets over two million visitors every year.
Astoria Park
This is an expansive park in the northwestern side of Queens, just across the Triborough Bridge from Manhattan. The park offers many facilities for recreation, as well as organized sports leagues including baseball and soccer. Its grounds feature basketball courts, a water spray park, and a dog run area with separate sections for small and large dogs. Also located in the park is a beautiful 19th century conservatory, built in 1892, which has a large collection of plants and trees from around the world.
Flushing Meadows
Flushing Meadows is located in the southeastern part of Queens, with its eastern border being adjacent to Citi Field (home of the New York Mets) as well as the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Queens Museum
Queens is home to the Queens Museum, which was founded in 1897 as the Astor Library and is considered one of the city’s most important museums. It displays a vast collection of paintings, sculptures and artifacts. The Museum’s extensive collections include Asian art, jewelry, prints and drawings by European masters, Native American objects and ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Queens Library
This library is known for its unique architecture, which was designed by architect William Ralph Emerson. It was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and many of the artworks on display were donated by notable artists, mostly from Queens. The museum’s collections include an Egyptian mummy, a gold-plated Egyptian crown and a large collection of miniature bronzes.
Steinway Mansion
This estate was once the home of piano manufacturer, John Jacob Steinway. The art-filled mansion has been converted into a public museum, showing the evolution of 18th and 19th century lifestyles and tastes.
Wave Hill
Located in the borough’s West Shore, this is a cultural center that hosts concerts and exhibitions throughout the year. It has several garden areas, including a Japanese garden and an herb garden.
Historic Richmond Town
Located in the borough’s North Shore, this area is home to some of the most well-preserved colonial history in New York City. It has a total of 40 historic buildings and sites, including the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, which was constructed in 1697 by Dutch settlers.

In conclusion, Queens is a place to visit by all. It has many places of attraction, and it has its own culture. Queens is an upcoming place in the world due to its immense population and its new immigrants. Although Queens is the largest city in New York City, it seems to be a place to go outside of your comfort zone and experience something new.
